Lent has begun and on Ash Wednesday, it is common to see people with a black cross on their foreheads.
If you were a devout catholic and work in a call center, you would do anything just to hear mass to observe Ash Wednesday. I personally didn’t know it was such until I saw one person walk in the restaurant I was in, with the usual cross on the forehead.
Interestingly enough, when the industry was still young, many still observed this event.
Today, you will not see much of it anymore. A reason considered as valid from those who didn’t make it to church was because they were asleep during the said ceremony.
You would expect food concessionaires to serve mostly fish and vegetables since meat isn’t allowed. Contrary to this belief, it isn’t even considered anymore. Some would say that since outsourced centers don’t consider it as a holiday and business goes on, after a while, it was something trivial.
I wonder if the church has something to say about the change in behavior and new trend within the call center group.
