An American call center based in Cebu, Philippines laid off hundreds of employees due to a reason not known to the public. So many individual's hope was crushed when they were told they didn't have a job the next day. Their contract was breached.
For those who were supervisors, to keep their job, they were offered to hit the phones instead. Goodbye careers! As expected, a handful normally proceeded to inform the government to seek justice.
This is a warning to those who are planning to offshore their centers in another country. One can't just fire anyone in a snap of a finger. Study the labor laws of the land. This is crucial to your business since you will be employing a lot of personnel to run your business.
If you're not careful, you might have assumed you'll be saving your business from failing, but you will go bankrupt from the law suits you will be facing. Lawyer fees don't come cheap.

I feel bad for the employees, but I'm in disbelief in what the company did. I've worked in 2 American-owned companies and all the rules are laid out clearly and the expats we were working with know that they can't just get away with the Labor practices they're doing in the US here in the Philippines. I urge ALL Western Wats employee to just pack up and leave your company...
