A blogger shared her experience while she was out shopping at a common mall. She planned to go around and probably meet friends and just hang out, but to her surprise she was approached by a call center recruiter with a flyer in hand.
This isn’t new to the business. It has been going on for years and still a viable option for a lot of outsourced centers. Due to saturation and lack of qualified people, a common strategy is to go where the masses go and hope to get someone you can easily train and is interested in becoming an agent.
What disappoints me would be the attitude and how recruiters conduct themselves in the mall.
A colleague decided to drop by at our booth to help out. From afar, she noticed that the person in charge wasn’t even making an effort. She looked bored. When someone went to the booth to look at the flyers, she approached the possible candidate but didn’t even smile. No warm welcome.
After introducing herself as one of the managers in the company, the girl wasn’t ecstatic. She didn’t even orient my colleague and how she can help with the initiative. The recruiter just went on with her business and texted all day, even went around the mall, leaving her post to the manager.
Recruiters out there, remember that renting space in a mall isn’t cheap. You have 4 hours or even 8 to do your job. Focus on the people who pass by and WEAR A SMILE. How can you invite them to join the company if you won’t even make them feel comfortable?
You represent the company and the industry. Make it count. You might even turn skeptics to believers and make them realize being an agent in a call center is all worth it.

Jam... I'm a girl! You said "his" experience and "he" planned. :(
