The interesting thing about working in a call center environment is that relationships blossom almost everyday. It could be a fling, a serious one or sometimes, just to help you climb the corporate ladder faster. Okay, this isn't new to any industry but because call centers are filled with people of different personalities, it is amazing how everyone reacts to relationships that start or end in this environment.
Let’s look at some examples, shall we?
If you have a relationship with someone who is perhaps an agent as well and you are part of the workforce, then the stories and rumors will not go beyond your circle. It’s normal.
What if you find out an agent has a romantic relationship with say, a QA evaluator, trainer or even a Team Leader? Now, we’re talking. This is where the fun starts. There are several rules that one has to adhere to:
- Never let upper management know. You might be accused of giving a passing mark on a Quality evaluation or perhaps an incentive was given to you because the metrics were “fixed”.
- Don’t go steady with someone from the same account. When you start fighting or break up, everything just goes downhill from there.
- Try not to get promoted! This is harsh but a fact. It doesn’t matter if you worked hard and deserved to get the promotion, but if they find out that you are linked to a manager then it’s better to move to another account. Better yet move to another company.
I didn’t make up these rules, but the list comes from experience and stories from colleagues and friends.
Perhaps you have a few more you’d like to share. Why not share your love story?
