Quality is my Passion

I was once a newbie in the call center industry; entering into a world I had always been curious about since beepers came into our side of the world.

My first taste of the industry was in outbound.  I went through all the rejections and the successful completes plus adapted to the different personalities and the environment.  I realized…”Hey, this is fun!”  I moved onwards to inbound and received calls from happy people and also experienced the world of “unsatisfied customers”.  This pointed me to the direction of Quality, which was my next milestone.

Since then, it was history.  I now specialize in Training and Quality, currently as a Director in my field of expertise for one of the Top 5 global call centers.  My passion to mentor and make things better for the industry made me even more passionate to look for ways to make customers happy.

Despite of the negativity around outsourcing, I’ve seen success and heard happy customers.  My goal now is to reverse this and prove that regardless where your call drops in, the person on the other side can help.  It does sound like asking for peace in the world, but hey, people can move mountains can’t they?

Hello, you sound like a really great person and hope you continue to do an equally great job. I once worked in the call center industry and unfortunately, I saw more bad than good in it. I hope eventually you can change my perception. I don't have time to go through your site extensively but may I bring up a concern that I'm sure you're already aware of? Call center accounts that focus on sales are a hotbed for fraudulent/unauthorized transactions, where even Team Leaders are guilty of encouraging their own agents to scam. Heck, even my former AOM was pushing me to scam, if only to "prettify" the numbers. Still, I prided myself on being a very good, courteous agent who didn't wear down her customers by hard-selling. Though my sales metrics were shot, I NEVER EVER processed unauthorized sales and not once did a customer call back to complain about me! Maybe the Pinoys managing the call centers should be more realistic about their targets rather than promising their foreign clients the sun, moon and stars and inflicting pressure and pain on their hapless agents.

Hey Girlie Boy! Yes, I am aware of that situation and was working in a call center that permits this. It is definitely sad to see that management has to resort to this in order to keep the contract. I left that company but KUDOS to you that you're doing the right thing.

» Know More About Strong Women from Know More Media
When Tim Stay, our co-founder mentioned to me that Unitus, the poverty-busting organization was launching a campaign honoring strong women, I had a variety of thoughts.  I thought of my own wife, mother of four, author of quiltersbuzz blog and... [Read More]

I once worked for a call center and i spoke german. it was ok for the first 8 hours but the extra 4 just took me down. they said it was in my best interest (it was my first day). i never returned.

I am interested to work for a home-based call center as well. Any suggestions?
