Review of "Call Center CRM News"

This is another in my reviews of existing call center blogs out there.

Tracey E. Schelmetic

Call Center CRM News says that it:

...covers Call Center news and Call Center/CRM analysis, and other customer-   facing technologies.

I found that this was a pretty accurate description.  Most of the posts are by Tracey  Schelmetic., who is:

"Editorial Director of Customer Inter@ction Solutions magazine, has been with TMC since 1998. In addition to her editorial duties for the magazine, Tracey contributes an e-business column to TMCnet, “Dot Commentary,” and Customer Inter@ction Solutions’ final page column, “Last Call”. Tracey frequently speaks at trade shows and industry events. She is the MVP Quality awards judge, the keeper of the “Top 50 Teleservices Agencies Rankings” and the chief editor of the CRM Excellence Awards. Tracey holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Fairfield University School of Business. "

Call Center CRM News is sponsored by TMC, one of the "world's foremost publishers of magazines and websites covering communications, technology, including VoIP, CRM, and Contact Centers."

(By the way, TMC was founded by Nadji Tehrani.  I will write good things about him in a later post.)

So, back to the blog review.

Indian Slave Ships?

I find the comparison a stretch.  Comparing the monitoring of agents to the surveillance of a slave in Prison or on a slave ship?  Call Centers can be held liable for what happens in the interaction between their agent and the customer.  Constant monitoring allows for better training and is a protection for the agent and for the call center against unsubstantiated claims by customers.

Non-compliance aboard a slave ship probably resulted in physical punishment.  Non-compliance in a call center leads to a warning or at worse a dismissal.  The comparison is a weak one.
